Welcome to St. Matthew’s.
In the coming months church is going to look very different.
*UPDATE* St Matthew's Church is now open for public worship every Sunday at 10.30am. We have introduced a new short service of Holy Communion on the second on fourth Sundays of the month at 9.15am, see Calendar for more details.
Social distancing, hand washing, and other health measures are in place. The wearing of face masks is, for the moment, required. Children will sit with their parents/carers, and activity packs are available. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
We are also open for private prayer on Wednesday evenings, 6.30 - 7.30, and Saturday mornings, 10.30 - 11.30.
When together we started the season of Lent with Jesus being led by the Spirit into the solitude of the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11), we could not have imagined that in such a short time so many of us would find ourselves isolated and cut off from so much of what is our normal life.
Though we have been unable to meet together physically for worship we are still the church, and God’s Spirit, who joins us together with God and each other, is able to create that community even at a distance.
Just as Jesus’ time in the wilderness was formative for his life and ministry, so we pray that this wilderness through which we are all travelling, will be formative for each of us as we grow to be the people God is calling us to be.
Whilst we are not all able to gather together to worship, we are working hard to find new ways of staying connected and supporting each other.
