Family Fun Day and Parish Weekend, 2009

The weather was wet, but that didn't dampen the spirits of all who gathered at St. Matthew's Church for our Parish Family Fun Day on Saturday 1st August, between 11am and 3pm.

Everything was free, including the crafts, the food, the bouncy castle. We had displays from groups within our local community including our Police Community Support Officers, our Scout Group, local carers organisations including  SignPost for Carers, ABC (Fun group for children with special needs), the Family Contact Centre, Wellspring, and groups from our Parish. We enjoyed live music and explanations of what goes on in church - see our leaflet, Almost-everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-Church-of-England-services-but-were-afraid-to-ask!  

Our Parish Weekend ended with an Open Air... yes I said Open Air Service on Sunday outside St. Matthew's. The wind blew but the rain stayed off. I think we were all mighty grateful for the warming cup of tea and picnic which we shared following the service.
